Our name.
You are standing above the Kumutoto Stream. Totō is named after the stream which flows beneath and is adjacent to an original sacred Pa site. In the 1830s, the Kumutoto Pa sat on the ridge overlooking the stream, the ridge is now The Terrace, while the stream continues to run beneath the land to its outlet at the Kumutoto Wharf on Wellington’s waterfront.
Us.
Totō serves some of the best cheese scones in town. The café and hole-in-the-wall also offer a wide range of fresh sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups, hot gourmet pies, raw slices, house-made slices, brownies, brioche donuts, bircher muesli and more.
We source our beans from The Immigrant's Son roastery, known for producing the finest artisan espresso in Wellington. For those who love the flavour of coffee but don't want the caffeine, we also offer decaf coffee at no additional cost.
In addition to coffee and food, we have teamed up with Flowers Rediscovered to offer a range of beautiful bouquets to brighten up your home or office, and bring a touch of beauty to your day.
So whether you're dining alfresco on our outdoor seating, using our takeaway hatch, or enjoying our indoor seating, come see why Totō is the talk of the Terrace!
