MEMBERSHIP AT THE WELLINGTON CLUB

The Wellington Club (Te Pou Maruwehi), established in December 1841, is the oldest private club in New Zealand. It is a great place to meet new people & make new friends. Membership is vibrant and currently sits at over 1,600 members. The Club admits men and women from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions, reflecting New Zealand’s diverse community and interests.

Membership is an invitation-only process that requires the backing of six existing members, including a proposer, seconder, and four referees. The first step in this process involves having your proposer complete and submit a nomination form along with your CV for consideration by the Committee.

EVENTS

With a rich and diverse events calendar, there's always something exciting happening at The Wellington Club.

Events include but are by no means limited to, gourmet dinners, parties, engaging speaker series, and interactive workshops. The calendar has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for culinary delights, exploring new interests, or simply enjoying quality time with fellow members, The Wellington Club is the place to be.

RECIPROCITY

Since its establishment, The Wellington Club has entered into reciprocal relationships with the finest and most prestigious Clubs throughout the world. Club Members are warmly welcomed to enjoy the benefits that these Clubs have to offer on their travels as Members of the Club.

DINING

As a Member of The Wellington Club, you will enjoy some of the finest hospitality in the city. We take pride in offering an exceptional dining experience complemented by an exquisite wine list inspired by the rich and diverse viticulture of New Zealand and beyond, celebrating both renowned vineyards and hidden gems. Whether you have a casual drink and light snack in the Drakes Acre bar overlooking The Terrace or indulge in the cuisine in the Kumutoto Restaurant, you can always expect first-class service and offerings.

HOST FUNCTIONS

Premium function spaces cater for up to 160 guests at dinners, weddings, and other seated functions and up to 350 guests for cocktail parties and the like. The Club's small and large meeting and private dining rooms have flexible arrangements to accommodate differing numbers and requirements.

ACCOMMODATION

The Club offers ten modern, en-suite accommodation rooms for members of The Wellington Club, and their guests. Perfectly located for any travel into Wellington CBD, the rooms are available at a highly competitive rate.

The room rates includes single or double occupancy, a covered car park, all taxes and complimentary use of the Health & Fitness Centre.

WORKSPACE

Members enjoy outstanding amenities & a sophisticated setting over three floors. Dedicated workspaces allow Members to host meetings or catch up on their work, emails and other needs while away from home or the office.

All Club areas, including the ground-floor office suites, have complimentary Wi-Fi. Office and conferencing equipment (whiteboards, video conferencing, stationery, etc.), as well as printing, photocopying, and scanning services, can be provided.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

88 Health Club offers a relaxed and friendly environment where members can workout in privacy. Complete with cardio machines and traditional weight training equipment, 88 Health Club is perfect for all ages and levels of fitness.

In addition to group fitness classes, the Club hosts health-focused seminars, therapeutic massages, personal training and outdoor activities.

COMMUNITY

Our Club has always been about fostering a strong sense of community and connection among our Members, and as a Member of the Club, you would be joining a community that is already 1600 strong.
